Stress Management Techniques for Busy Moms

Stressed Mom

When your day is made up of dropping kids off at schools, making lunches, working, coming home just to manage homework and dinner and somehow find time for yourself, stress management is a necessity. No matter how organised you are you have a 100% chance of stress, so it’s vital to remember it’s ok to feel this way, and to take some time for yourself to manage that stress.

Ask For Support

When you’re overwhelmed it’s easy to feel like you’re alone and you have to deal with it alone, but ask anyone – we all have these issues! It’s important to reach out to others, your wife, husband, a friend or another mom for help, let them know you need help and be specific about what you need.

Do Something Creative

If you’re a creative mom, do something creative. Take your hobby more seriously and do it on a more regular basis. If you love to paint, make time for it, if you can write, write. It doesn’t matter what you do as long as it brings you joy, that’s why I love knitting! When you’re stressed out your body released cortisol which stops your creative thinking, so doing something creative helps you let go of the stress and feel more relaxed.

Exercise

Exercising outdoors lets you take a break from your routine and helps you feel refreshed. You can walk, jog, run, hike, whatever you want to do. If you’ve got kids, take them along for the ride! Exercising helps reduce stress by dropping your blood pressure and increasing endorphins. If you have a young baby it may seem hard to get out and exercise, but there’s walkers you can get your baby into so you can run along with them, or try out yoga at home.
